School is back in session, student councils are now starting their planning for the year. One major thing most schools organize,is school dances and Grads, and how the entertainment aspect will be handled.
Some schools are a little more liberal than others in regards to music content. Music should be Age appropriate and edited music that is free of objectionable language and does not promote or or blatantly glorify sex, drugs, alcohol or violence. Trust me there is a lot of, Top 40 music that is not school acceptable.
Responsibility of content falls onto the DJ and the School administration. It is the DJ’s responsibility to make sure, that they have “clean edits”. This is more scrubbed then your typical radio edit. The school should also submit a list of “DO NOT PLAY” list of songs that they know the students like. (yes, you will have to listen, to young people music). To an extent I use the School Dance Network website, they provide a “Safe” list as well as “DO NOT PLAY”.

LIGHTING
Lights make it fun. I have found over the years, using every light, you have doesn’t benefit you, Go BIG and effective. Chaperones will like the dance floor area well lit, that way they can keep good eye out for inappropriate behavior (Grinding, twerking, ect no one wants to see that)
GRINDING, TWERKING and PRE-GAMING IS NOT CUTE OR APPROPRIATE, JUST, DON’T.
No one wants to see students doing that, some schools that will get you kicked out. I don’t blame the administration, for this rule.
Don’t show up drunk or on illicit drugs. This is supposed to be a safe and fun environment, school dances are a privilege that can be revoked. Some schools have completely cancelled, dances due to too many students showing up, under the influence.
and finally, DON’T AFTER-PARTY
These can be dangerous and are ILLEGAL if you are under 18. You could get a large fine and possibly a criminal record. That could follow you, when trying to get into post-secondary education. Please make wise decisions.
